Bhagavad Gita Study
The Bhagavad Gita encapsulates the essence of the timeless wisdom of the Upanishads. In this jewel of Vedantic scripture, the Hindu God Krishna unfolds the essential teachings of Yoga to the Prince Arjuna, who is faced with a spiritual and existential crisis on a battlefield, about to lead his army into metaphorical war. Although this text was written over 2,500 years ago, the message of the Gita applies itself perfectly to our modern times and helps to dispel the ignorance which binds us to a sense of limitation and helplessness. The knowledge unfolded in the Gita is life changing, providing us with the timeless guidance to live a happy and fulfilling life. The selected translation and commentary is also a wonderful introduction to classical Advaita Vedanta.
Meditation
Unveil the true essence of yoga beyond the mat and become a beacon of wisdom and guidance for your students. Every day we will be doing 1-2 hours of Silent Meditation Practice. Initially the meditation will be guided and then we will continue in silence. There will be an in-depth explanation of how to meditate and time for questions and answers about meditation. The meditation will support the Gita study and help to purify and calm the mind and allow you to leave the retreat feeling refreshed, deeply restored and inspired.
Watch the Series
Every week Vidya hosts a Bhagavad Gita and Advaita Vedanta study group which is filmed live from Suryalila, the home of Frog Lotus Yoga. Vidya has been a student and teacher of yoga philosophy for many years so her profound knowledge on this text and how it applies to our modern lives is extensive. The Gita is the original yoga text and holds the wisdom on which yoga as we know it was founded.
You can watch the series here or on our Vimeo channel.
