Thai Yoga Massage is a healing art evolving from a combination of various Oriental medical systems while holding its own unique sense of identity with its own modality of Traditional Medicine. It unifies intention, breath, yogic āsana, and massage techniques into a flowing integration of continuous rhythmic motion that provides the receiver with a soothing and revitalizing experience. TYM is based on an understanding of the body’s various layers, focusing on ’sen’ meridian pathways and acupressure points. The practitioner assists to holistically balance the body’s systems, freeing up and removing any blockages that may be present. A proper session of TYM results in restoring a healthy, balanced energetic flow to the recipient. It is a complete therapeutic treatment on its own, and it is easily incorporated into yoga classes or other modalities of physical therapy.
This 50-hour training will cover how to give a full 1.5 – 2 hour massage. Content will include an introduction to TYM history & theory, ’sen’ lines, breath work, meditation, use of proper body mechanics, introductions Thai culture & customs regarding the practice, and self-care through Reusi Dat Ton/Thai Yoga. Prone, supine, and side-lying positions will be addressed as well as transitions and working with different body types. Aside from being able to offer a complete TYM session as a private, you will be able to incorporate these hands-on skills in your yoga classes.
