About the Retreat Center
Suryalila is very dear to Vidya’s heart, since it is also her home and a dream come true. After many years of traveling and staying at countless other retreat centres, Vidya was inspired to manifest a perfect environment for her retreats, a place with really great aesthetics, comfortable accommodation, fantastic, super healthy food, impeccable customer service and a warm and inspiring team.
Suryalila is a unique and beautiful old renovated olive farm, located near Arcos de la Frontera, deep in the heart of the lovely Andalusian countryside, in the south of Spain. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, with sweeping vistas of lakes and fields of sunflowers, the Centre is resplendent in the endless sunshine.
The residency buildings are charming, spacious and beautifully decorated with an exotic eastern flavor. There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas and plenty of cozy hang out spots. On your breaks you can relax by the inviting salt-water pool or sway in the hammocks in the olive grove.
There is free wireless internet available throughout the retreat centre, as well as an office area with a computer available for our guests to use.
Suryalila boasts three gorgeous and unique yoga shalas.
The mouth-wateringly delicious meals prepared at Suryalila are gourmet organic vegetarian, with vegan options. Suryalila’s master chefs, Gemma Russell and Caroline Hiller are simply the best, so expect heavenly food. The retreat centre produces its own organic olive oil on the property. The large and happy family of chickens will provide you with eggs. Many organic fruit and vegetables are already grown on the property and the farm will be expanded over time. All of our supplemental fruit and vegetables are supplied by local organic farms.
Andalusia is renowned for its wild natural beauty and nature reserves, as well as some of the best weather in Europe. Suryalila is only one hours drive from the fabulous city of Seville. Seville is famous for its wonderful, rambling old town, cathedral, enchanting Moorish palaces, flamenco and Tapas bars. Arcos de la Frontera, a Eunesco world heritage site, is an ancient town perched precariously on the edge of a cliff, just 15 minutes from the retreat centre. Gorgeous unspoiled white sand beaches around Cadiz, are found just 45 mins south of the centre, perfect for day trips.
Activities and Excursions
There are many fun outdoor activities in the area such as hiking, swimming in natural pools and lakes, climbing, horse riding and cycling as well as visits to beautiful beaches. There are also excursions to historical towns in the area, including Seville for site seeing, shopping, flamenco and Tapas.
