Weaving Fitness Intelligently, Creatively and Safely into Your Vinyasa Flow Classes with Jennilee Toner
Explore the How To’s, When’s and Why’s of adding Fitness to Your Yoga Sequences. This week-long 50 hour immersion will be a dive deep into anatomy subjects such as bone density, joint stability, muscular strength and fascia health. Intelligent, creative, seamless and safe sequencing will be taught, explored and discussed.
We will begin each day with a one-hour meditation (seated, walking and dynamic will be offered). A two-hour dynamic vinyasa flow practice with emphasis on challenging, strengthening and balancing various systems of the body (musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, elimination, immune, etc) will follow. Be prepared to sweat and have fun as you embody your learning!
Two 2.5 lectures will be taught most days with subject matters such as: Yoga for Bone Health, Continuous Scan: Joint Mobility AND Muscle Stability, Deep Dive into Multi-Systems of the Human Body, Cross-Training to Support Your Body On- and Off-the-Mat, Benefits of Toning Your Fascia: How to Do It and Why, and Aesthetic Vs Functional Alignment. These are in addition to sequencing workshops that emphasize When, Where and Why you would add a fitness exercise or element.
There are no prerequisites for this course. A manual will be provided at the training and a reading list will be sent on registration.
An author of The Perfect Chaturanga: A Comprehensive Guide to the Human Body Through the Practice of Vinyasa Yoga, has been practicing hatha and vinyasa yoga since 1996, teaching hatha and vinyasa yoga since 2003, teaching experiential anatomy to yoga teachers in training with Frpg Lotus Yoga International since 2010, teaching her own Hot Warrior Yoga teacher trainings since 2012 and her own Inner Sanctum Yoga 300 advanced teacher trainings since 2016. She has been writing yoga anatomy articles for Ekhartyoga.com since 2014 and joined their online teaching team shortly thereafter. Most recently, she has joined the Master Trainers of Buti Yoga and has co-created their Advanced 300 Hour YTT. In addition to traveling the world teaching Intelligent, Creative and SAFE Yoga, Jennilee continues to learn and geek out all the time: She just started her Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine!
